I became interested in reading “Adopted Child” by T. Santitoro after reading “Minimalism, A handbook of minimalist genre poetic forms”, an excellent book, edited by the same author.
Adopted Child is a science fiction novella centered on the discovery of an abandoned ship by a salvage craft. I particularly enjoyed how the perspective of the story changed from that of the crew to that of the abandoned ship. The flow of the dialogue was well written and felt very natural. For a relatively short novella, the story was very well developed, and not in any way predictable or formulaic. I feel this is a very worthwhile read and would be appropriate for young people as well as adults. A very worthwhile read that I was glad I found and would recommend most highly.
